Fujiwara no Kiyohara's daughter, Princess Tokuhime is said to have built Shiramizu Amida Temple as a memorial to her deceased husband, Norimichi Iwaki. The architecture is representative of the late Heian period (year of 1160).
Its design elegantly harmonizes the beautiful curved lines of the roof with its Jodo (pure land) style garden.
During the summer, the Oga lotus is in bloom. During fall, the large gingko treed and maple are in full splendor.
