Grand festival is held two times a year, in summer and fall.
A lot of visitors coming from all over Japan.

Catching a lot of attention from foreign media with its high artistic quality.

One of the representing Japan’s fire festivals.
Gorgeous “nebuta (local festival floats)” illuminate the night, and the “haneto (dancers wearing festival costumes)” dance to “ohayashi (Japanese traditional background music)”.
Everybody wearing festival costumes (rental costumes available) can participate in as “haneto”.

Held during August 1st to 7th every year.
Various types of “Neputa”, local festival floats, such as fan-shaped and doll-shaped with samurai paints are paraded.

Snow lanterns are made by citizens to relax the hard winter in the area.
Snow statue shaped in historical buildings, and a huge slide are made.

This festival is deemed as deriving from famous Gion Matsuri Festival in Kyoto since the culture was brought by “Kitamae-bune”, old cargo ships in Japan.

Huge “dashi”, Japanese festival floats, parade through the city in “ohayashi”, Japanese traditional background music, and shouts by participants “Yattemare! Yattemare!”.
The biggest “dashi” overwhelms the audience with its height of 23m and weight of 19 tons.

1,500 cherry blossom trees bloom in spring.
Many visitors come to take a photograph of cherry blossoms covering the local trains like a tunnel.

One of the Japan’s best parade dance having long traditions.
In the middle of August every year, citizens and even tourists from other prefectures dance until the late night.

The end of April will be the best season for cherry blossom viewing in Hirosaki city.
Beautiful contrast between pink in cherry blossoms and pine trees.

Topiaries and dolls created by “kiku”, chrysanthemum flowers are exhibited in the place.
Various flowers, such as big ones grown with lots of effors, middle-sized ones and cascade-shaped ones, beautifully decorate the castle.

Listening to explanations by tour guides, participants in a tour bus can enjoy and appreciate the winter Oirase ice falls.
Ice falls and Oirase river stream at night are beautifully illuminated.

Through Komakaido Avenue, beautiful contrast between cherry blossoms and pine trees can be appreciated.
Especially, night cherry blossoms make spiritual attractiveness.

Designated as an Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in December, 2016.
